Are you serious ?

What’s up everyone? I know I haven’t written anything in a while and felt I needed to address a very shocking thing. The other day I was talking to my good friend Hans and he sent me a link to a website to check out. I clicked on the website and when the browser window opened up all I saw was www.niggaspace.com “a place for niggas”. I never meant for my website to be only about race and issues of that kind, but this use of the word nigga has went too far.

As I read more on the homepage of the website I see a quote explaining the difference between the word nigga and nigger. The quote states

” This site is in no way meant to be racist. A common endearing term used by many black people is, “nigga” not to be confused with a different and offensive term, “nigger”. The word, “nigga” is in rap songs, daily conversations, on TV, etc. yet the word still has so much mixed emotions attached. One of my intentions is for this word to no longer have such mixed emotions. Part of my intention for this site is for the word nigga to embody images of brotherhood, and fraternity rather than images of ignorance and hate.

How great would it be, if the mixed emotions that this word carries along with it, were stripped down to something more positive? Only positive.

Of course there are going to be two sides to this, but just know that intentions are noble. So create an account, and start the revolution!

Regards,
Tyrone and Staff”

That whole explanation absolutely makes no sense what so ever. No one can ever convince me that using that word is ok just because it uses a “ar” instead of a “er”. It is still highly ignorant and creating a website “just for niggas” sounds absolutely outrageous. And I know it’s not only African -American people that would find this offensive and ignorant, people of all races would also. This is just another way of showing everyone and the Hip – Hop world that the use of this word has been taken too far. I for one am not innocent of using that word, I have used it with my friends, but I have noticed that from junior high school to now I became brainwashed from the music and my environments use of that word. Sooner of later it just because second nature to just call my boys by that word. It is wrong and I have always hated myself for using it and I learned to control it. My People have to understand that the more our culture grows into mainstream the more we influence other races and media. So next time when you hear someone of another race say the word nigga would you still get upset or no you wouldn’t because it uses an “ar” instead of an “er”? I want everyone to leave a comment on this and share your thoughts because I just think we are selling our souls and culture just for a few bucks and it is hurting our culture and race. My people always say they don’t feel that people of other races respect us as a people, but what kind of image do you think this website www.niggaspace.com portrays?
