Brand New Adobe Icons

After reading Veerie’s Blog on Adobes new Icons I was shocked on what they were changing. The first thing that caught my eye was the fact that it looks based on the chemical chart that I use to hate in chemistry class. Because of all the different colors and letters for each software compared to what I use to remember off that chemistry chart was the same concept for different chemicals. It’s a cool concept, but some of my designer friends feel that it can and will confuse people on what software they are about to choose from their dock because of the letters and colors. We are so used to associating the Adobe logo brands with colorful animated characters, such as the ones for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator that this change will cause confusion and might even be annoying to some. The whole change is to brand all of Adobes softwares together such as the regular Photoshop, Illustrator with the others newly acquired such as dreamweaver and flash. Here are a couple of sample pictures I took from her blog and I want to know how you fellow designs out there think about this new change for the upcoming CS3 products.
